There is a municipal swimming pool in Otivar that opens mid-June and closes mid-September (basically - during the schools summer holidays).
Entry is currently 1 Euro (as are most of the drinks - San Miguel/Coke etc)
Opening hours are 11:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 20:00 - closed Mondays.
It has good quality facilities, a "life guard", nice clean changing rooms - and a small hut/bar where a range of sweets and drinks (incl. alcoholic) can be found. But you are advised to take a picnic if you want anything substantial.
It is quite popular amongst the local spanish and expats alike. Substantial works are underway to improve further its facilities.
It is situated at the top perimeter of the borders of the town - and it is quite a hike - so go by car!! Plenty of parking normally available.
HOW TO GET THERE
You will find a steep concrete road next to the Caja Rural Bank on the main through road, and nearly opposite The Bar Madera heading in the direction of the coast - but up the hill. Follow this through a car park for some 1-2 kms. and when you hit the T-Junction - turn left to continue up the hill - it bends to the right - and you cannot miss the pool. Park either just below the pool - or take the right hand track past it and park by the road.
